At the conclusion of Race 9 an information # 66879 was laid by Stipendiary Steward Mr C J Allison under Rule 865 (2) alleging that Mr M J House was late notifying RONA LORRAINE (Horse no 2, Race 8) would not race with pull down blinds.
--Mr Thornley, who was representing Mr House (Trainer) admitted the breach.
Mr Allison, in giving evidence, maintained that a breach of Rule 865 (2) had occurred.
The Rule 865 (2) reads : - A horse may race with the same or identical gear from its last start when the owner trainer or person in charge of the horse has notified the change in the manner presented in the Approved Gear Regulations, any such change is to be advised not later than the official time for notification of drivers as specified in the notification of Drivers Regulations.
--Mr Allison explained that the deadline for notification of gear change was 1pm Sunday 27 December – whereas he had only been informed of the proposed change on the morning of Tuesday 29 December. The standard fine of $50 was recommended.
--The Committee decided that this was appropriate, therefore a fine of $50 was imposed.
