Following Race 4 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 520(4)(c) when it was found that Mr B Jones, rider of SYRAH failed to make the handicapped weight of 55.5kgs.

DECISION AND REASON:
--Following Race 4 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 520(4)(c) when it was found that Mr B Jones, rider of SYRAH failed to make the handicapped weight of 55.5kgs.
--Mr Jones admitted the breach.
--Mr Jones explained that he had warned the trainer of SYRAH, Mr A Scott, that he might have trouble in making the weight, when he spoke to him 24 hours before the race. He subsequently found that due to the cold weather he was unable to shed the required weight. He informed Mr Scott of this prior to scratching time.
--Mr Coles said Mr Jones' record was a good one under this rule, with his last charge being in 2004. He believed a fine was appropriate, in the $100-$200 range,
--The Committee considered all submissions and pointed out to Mr Jones his obligations under the rule. The Committee imposed a fine of $150, which they believed was appropriate.
