Following Race 7 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d) by the informant Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham. It was alleged that GALACTIC STORM, ridden by Mr S Saad, shifted in near the 300 metres causing a check to BELLA RUGER, ridden by Mr P Taylor, and continued to shift in causing a check to JESSAMINE, ridden by M Hills.

Following Race 7 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d) by the informant Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham. It was alleged that GALACTIC STORM, ridden by Mr S Saad, shifted in near the 300 metres causing a check to BELLA RUGER, ridden by Mr P Taylor, and continued to shift in causing a check to JESSAMINE, ridden by M Hills.
--Mr Saad admitted the breach and was represented by trainer Mr Paul Jenkins.
--Mr Coles demonstrated the video films and showed where soon after entering the home straight Mr Saad allowed his mount to shift in and in doing so made contact with BELLA RUGER who received a severe check. Mr Coles said Mr Saad kept riding forward at all times and although the horse was hanging Mr Saad made no visible attempt to correct his mount. Mr Coles said Mr Saad then straightened his mount but soon after allowed his mount to move in again causing further interference.
--Mr Saad had nothing to say.
--Mr Jenkins said GALACTIC STORM was difficult and unruly and this was his first start in blinkers. He said that short of pulling the horse up there was little Mr Saad could do.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS :
--Mr Oatham produced Mr Saad's record showing 3 charges in the last 18 months, the most recent being on 28 May 2008 incurring an 8 day penalty. Mr Oatham said Mr Saad caused significant interference and submitted the offence was in the mid to high range, being 5 - 7 days.
--DECISION :
--The Committee carefully considered all evidence and submissions and before imposing a penalty took into account the following :

- Mr Saad's guilty plea. --
- Mr Saad's riding record. --
- The level of interference and the fact that a relegation resulted.
Accordingly, we impose a suspension to start after racing on the 16th July and conclude after racing on the 26th July 2008 (6 days). This allows Mr Saad to complete his confirmed engagements within the 7 day period.
