Following the running of the Upper Hutt Cossie Club Maiden Mr K Collins admitted a charge of careless riding under rule 871 (1)(d) in relation to his ride on Monjarni.

Following the running of the Upper Hutt Cossie Club Maiden Mr K Collins admitted a charge of careless riding under rule 871 (1)(d) in relation to his ride on Monjarni.
----Mr Ray (Stipendiary Steward) used the rear, side and head on films of the final 300 metres to show that Mr Collins shifted in to contest a gap to which Sharp Lady (R Fraser) was entitled and effectively shouldered that horse aside to its significant detriment.
----On the issue of penalty Mr Goodwin (Stipendiary Steward) considered the degree of carelessness on Mr Collins' part called for a suspension.
----Mr Collins submitted that he did not get too many rides and hoped he could avoid a suspension.
----We consider Mr Collins' actions effectively extinguished Sharp Lady's chances and command a period of suspension. In setting the term we have given Mr Collins credit for his frank admission of the matter and his good riding record. We suspend him from the close of racing on 11 April 2007 until the close of racing on 21 April 2007, an effective 3 day suspension.
