Following the running of Race 5, the Marconee Seafoods Special Conditions, Ms R. Rattley was charged with careless riding under Rule 871 (1) (d).
--The information alleged that R. Rattley the rider of RISING STAR allowed her mount to shift outward when not clear of SMART MOLLY (OP Bosson) which was checked.
--
Following the running of Race 5, the Marconee Seafoods Special Conditions, Ms R. Rattley was charged with careless riding under Rule 871 (1) (d).
--The information alleged that R. Rattley the rider of RISING STAR allowed her mount to shift outward when not clear of SMART MOLLY (OP Bosson) which was checked.
--Ms Rattley is apprenticed to Mr. Ritchie but was today represented by Mr B. Line the trainer of RISING STAR.
--Mr. Sanders began by showing the available videos of the incident.
--Coming up to the 400 meter mark Ms Rattley steered her mount outwards to avoid the heels of the horse in front but in doing so she ran right into the path of Mr. Bosson who was following. He yelled out to her as he was forced to check SMART MOLLY.
--Mr. Sanders put the interference at mid-range. He said that she has been an apprentice for four years and this is her first charge.
--Mr. Lines told the committee that the horse does have a tendency to drift a little in its races particularly when negotiating a bend. Ms Rattley has ridden the horse before and has experienced this tendency.
--Penalty
--The committee took into account all of the submissions and in coming to a decision on penalty took into account Ms Rattley’s;
- Excellent record
- Her admittance of the breach and
- The degree of interference.

She is suspended from the close of racing today Saturday July 11th until the close of racing on Wednesday July 22nd.
Ms Rattley informed the committee that she only rides in the North Island therefore this suspension equates to four North Island days.
