At the completion of Race 1, The Winton Workouts Committee Mobile Trot, a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr N McIntyre under rule 870(3) against the 5th placed horse by the judge GLOBAL INVASION (R Jenkins) alleging that approximately 70m from the finish GLOBAL INVASION broke and failed to retain its proper gait.
At the completion of Race 1, The Winton Workouts Committee Mobile Trot, a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr N McIntyre under rule 870(3) against the 5th placed horse by the judge GLOBAL INVASION (R Jenkins) alleging that approximately 70m from the finish GLOBAL INVASION broke and failed to retain its proper gait.
--Rule 870 (3) states “any horse which breaks from its gait shall promptly regain its gait”.
--The connections of GLOBAL INVASION did not contest the protest. Mr McIntyre showed the committee several video clips of the alleged incident highlighting the breaking of GLOBAL INVASION and the 70m in which it failed to retain its gait.
--The committee upheld the protest disqualifying GLOBAL INVASION from 5th place as clearly a breach of the rule had occurred. The official judge’s placings now read:-
