Wairio JC – 21 April 2008 – Race 8
ID: JCA18800
Code:
Thoroughbred
Hearing Type (Code):
thoroughbred-racing
Meet Title:
Wairio JC - 21 April 2008
Race Date:
2008/04/21
Race Number:
Race 8
Decision: Ms Carston you’ve admitted a breach of rule 871(1)(d) in that you allowed your mount SIRIUS to drift in some to 2 to 3 horse widths over a distance of approximately 20 metres some 300 metres from the finish in Race 8.
Ms Carston you’ve admitted a breach of rule 871(1)(d) in that you allowed your mount SIRIUS to drift in some to 2 to 3 horse widths over a distance of approximately 20 metres some 300 metres from the finish in Race 8. The movement occurred when you were urging your mount with the stick. As a consequence, Ms Fraser’s mount AMPLIFY had to check out when you took her line. We accept there was some outwards movement from Ms Fraser but we believe this was prior to the movement from SIRIUS.
----
We give credit for your ready admission of the breach and, in particular, for your excellent record of never having previously been charged with a breach of this rule, despite your having in excess of 250 rides. We agree with Mr Ching that this breach is at the lower end, and we believe it can be dealt with by a suspension of 3 days. We suspend you from riding at the conclusion of racing on Thursday 24 April up to and including Saturday 3 May. This is 3 South Island days.
