This hearing related to an alleged breach of the Rules at the Waimate Racing Club's meeting on 16 July 2006. On that day Stipendiary Steward Mr S. C. Ching laid an information pursuant to Rule 520(4)(a) alleging Jockey Miss L. K. Cropp failed to attend the meeting.
--
DECISION AND REASONS:
--This hearing related to an alleged breach of the Rules at the Waimate Racing Club's meeting on 16 July 2006. On that day Stipendiary Steward Mr S. C. Ching laid an information pursuant to Rule 520(4)(a) alleging Jockey Miss L. K. Cropp failed to attend the meeting. The information reads as follows.
--"I the abovenamed informant allege that the abovenamed Defendant
------committed a breach of Rule 520(4)(a) in that L. K. Cropp (jockey) failed to attend this meeting breaking seven riding engagements."
--Rule 520(4)(a) reads as follows.
--"Every rider commits a breach of these Rules who:
--(a) wilfully or without reasonable excuse breaks a riding engagement."
----
Miss Cropp had indicated on the information that she did not admit this breach of the Rules and she confirmed this at the hearing. Miss Cropp also said that she has a medical certificate to show that she was unwell on the day in question, but that she did not have it with her. Other matters were also discussed.
--After hearing from both parties we were satisfied that this matter could not be resolved until Miss Cropp has had a chance to produce her medical certificate. It would also be preferable to have Stipendiary Steward Mr Ching at the hearing, as he was in charge at the Waimate meeting.
--Taking all the above matters into account we determined that this matter be adjourned to a date to be set by Mr Ching. Miss Cropp should in the meantime make the medical certificate available to Mr Ching within 7 days so that it can be decided whether this hearing should be continued or not.
