--Mr Knowles demonstrated on the video that Mr Simpson used his stick in excess of 30 times in the last 300 metres. Mr Simpson did not dispute this but said that on many occasions he had only hit the dust sheet or the shaft and that on returning to the stabling area the horse had only half a dozen marks on him.
--Mr Knowles produced Mr Simpson's record which was all clear for this season. He asked for a fine. Mr Simpson, after deliberation, asked the Committee to consider the imposition of a suspension. Mr Knowles suggested a month's suspension was appropriate for the breach. After establishing that Mr Simpson generally had only one or two drives at any meeting, the Committee suspended Mr Simpson from driving from the end of the meeting today up to and including 9 March 2007. This is four days.
