--Mr Knowles had Mr Allison, assistant stipendiary steward, demonstrate on the video that GRANT?S WISH broke approximately 100 metres from the winning post and continued to gallop for a distance of some 60 to 70 metres before regaining its gait. Mr Burgess did not dispute this. With reference to para (b) of the Breaking Horse Regulations, Mr Knowles alleged this was a breach of R 870(3).
--I agree GRANT?S WISH is in breach of para (b) of the Breaking Horse Regulations and consequently, R 870(3). Accordingly, I exercise my discretion and disqualify GRANT?S WISH pursuant to R 1003. Amended placings are 1, 16, 9, 3, 2.
