Decision: --

Stipendiary Steward Mr Ching has alleged that Ms Parker was in breach of Rule 871(1)(d) in that she allowed her mount COUP TAINE to shift inwards causing a check to SNIPSA GOLD ridden by J Bullard near the 200 metres.

--

Ms Parker has admitted the breach which we thus find proved.

--

PENALTY:

--

Ms Parker, you have allowed your mount COUP TAINE to drift across the rail after being 3 wide on turning for home. Mr Bullard on SNIPSA GOLD was attempting to take the gap on your inside as he is fully entitled to do, when he was forced to take hold of his mount, check out, and take a run on the outside of COUP TAINE. You had ample opportunity to straighten your mount but failed to do so. In so doing, as you have admitted, you are guilty of careless riding.

--

Mr Ching said the breach was mid range and asked for a suspension of 4 to 5 days. We view the breach as being at the bottom end of mid range. It was a gradual movement over to the rail. We take a starting point of 5 days and give credit for your ready admission of the breach and for your exemplary record of no breaches of this rule for over 3 years. You asked for a deferment of any suspension till after Reefton on the 7th of January as you have intended engagements at that meeting, That is within the prescribed 7 days and Mr Ching does not object. You are suspended from riding from the end of racing on 7th January 09 up to and including 17th January 09. This is in effect 3 South Island days.
