Facts: --
Following race 11 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 632. The informant, Stipendiary Steward Mr A Coles requested a ruling: was QUICK STEPS (T Thornton) denied a fair start when the barriers were released.

Mr Coles demonstrated the incident by showing the head and side on views of the start which he believed clearly showed the barrier of QUICK STEPS was slow to release. He said the incident was very similar to the previous race.

Mrs. T Thornton rider of Quick Steps said she believed the barrier was slow to open by 2 to 3 lengths. She said it was clearly evident on the video films.

Mr J Humphries said he conceded there was a mechanical fault with the starting stalls. He said he had informed Mr Enting the General Manager of the Club who was going to get the starting stalls checked out on Monday

The Committee considered all evidence as presented and reviewed the video films. We were left in no doubt that there was a mechanical failure of the starting stalls which resulted in Quick Steps been denied a fair start
