Following the running of Race 2 (Allied Security 1400) Information No. A12935 was filed with the Judicial Committee. It was alleged that Mr May used his whip excessively on SAIGNON prior to the 100m.
Mr May said that he understood the Rule, the Charge, and confirmed that he admitted the breach.
Mr Robinson showed film replays and identified where Mr May had struck his horse 8 times prior to the 100m (5 is the limit).
Mr May agreed that there were 8 strikes before the 100m.

Mr Jones said that Mr May had a good record and that there were not any aggravating factors to consider. Mr May said that it was obvious he had breached the Rule. He said that he was trying hard to adapt to the New Zealand riding style and asked for leniency. (Mr May had previously ridden in South Africa).
