As Ms Hirini admitted the breach we find the charge proved.

Accordingly, we impose a fine of $200.
Facts:
Following the running of race 3, Myers Racing Stables 2100, an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 636 (1)(d). The Informant, Mr Coles, alleged that Ms Hirini failed to ride her mount IN FOR FUN out to the end of the race.
Ms Hirini acknowledged that she understood the nature of the charge, the Rule and confirmed her admission of the breach.
Rule 636(1) (d) provides: that being the rider of a horse in a race must ride his or her horse out to the end of the race if there is a reasonable chance of it running into a position for which there is prize money to be awarded or a dividend to be declared.
Mr Oatham demonstrated on the video films IN FOR FUN racing several lengths in the lead at the 250 metres. He said at this stage Ms Hirini was riding with vigour but pointed out approximately 4 strides before the finish line her riding style altered. He said this resulted in 2 horses on her outside getting up to beat her by a nose and a nose. He concluded by saying Ms Hirini's fitness may have been an issue in not riding her mount out to the end of the race.
Ms Hirini conceded her fitness was an issue and thought she was at the finish line when she stopped riding her mount out.
In response to a question from the Committee, Ms Hirini advised today was her 3rd race ride.
Submissions for Penalty:
Mr Coles said Ms Hirini should be given credit for her inexperience and her early admission of the breach. However, the Stewards believed she could have held 4th place if she had ridden her mount out to the end of the race. Mr Coles said this was the last race of the season for Amateur riders and submitted a fine of $200 would be appropriate.
Ms Hirini had nothing to say regarding penalty.
Reasons for Penalty:
The Committee carefully considered all the evidence and submissions presented. The mitigating factors are Ms Hirini's admission of the breach, her inexperience and her lack of fitness. The aggravating fact is we believe Ms Hirini's actions potentially cost her finishing in 4th position. The Committee notes that prize money for 4th placing was $400. We also had regard for the fact Ms Hirini is an Amateur rider.
We referred to similar breaches of this Rule before imposing penalty.
After taking into account all the above factors we consider an appropriate penalty is a $200 fine.
