Following the running of Race 4 (Te Rapa Function Centre Steeplechase) Information A14038 was filed the Judicial Committee. It was alleged that Ms Farr had used her whip in consecutive strides when riding PIERIAN SPRING over the concluding stages.
Ms Farr said that she understood the Rule, Charge, and confirmed that she admitted the breach.
Mr Coles showed film replays, identified Ms Farr and her mount and said that over the final part of the race that Ms Farr had used her whip consecutively 5 times.
Ms Farr said that she knew the Rule and that she was trying very hard and that it was only over the last 25m.

Mr Jones said that Ms Farr had a clear record over the past 12 months. Ms Farr reiterated that she just tried too hard.
Reasons for Penalty:
The film evidence was crystal clear in showing Ms Farr had struck her mount with the drawn whip on 5 consecutive strides over the concluding stages of the race. Taking into account all matters relating to penalty, it was determined that a fine of $300 was a suitable sanction.
