Following Race 5 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 858(4) when it was discovered that Mr F Leahy, co-trainer of the winner NOVATECH had omitted to include the lead bag.

DECISION & REASON:
--Following Race 5 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 858(4) when it was discovered that Mr F Leahy, co-trainer of the winner NOVATECH had omitted to include the lead bag. Mr Leahy admitted the breach.
--Mr Leahy said it was just an honest mistake on his part after the saddle had been knocked off the saddling stall when the horse next door became unsettled. The lead bag was dislodged which Mr Leahy failed to notice.
--Mr Oatham said it was fortunate Mr Williamson noticed the lead bag was missing before the race, otherwise the consequences would have been serious. He suggested a fine of between $400-$600.
--The committee considered the evidence and in imposing a fine of $500 pointed out to Mr Leahy how fortunate he was the mistake was discovered by Mr Williamson and his obligations under the rule.
