Following Race 4 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 530(2) (b). The Informant Mr J.Oatham alleged that Mr M.Cropp, rider of THE PATRIACH, was guilty of excessive whip use.

Following Race 4 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 530(2) (b). The Informant Mr J.Oatham alleged that Mr M.Cropp, rider of THE PATRIACH, was guilty of excessive whip use.
--Mr Cropp admitted the breach and was represented by Trainer Mr S. Lennox.

Mr A.Coles demonstrated the alleged breach on the video films, which clearly showed Mr Cropp using his whip excessively, prior to the final 200 metres of the race.
Mr Cropp had nothing to say.
PENALTY SUBMISSIONS
Mr Oatham said Mr Cropp was having his 29th raceday ride, he had no previous breaches of this rule. He said the offence was at the bottom end of the scale and submitted a fine of $100 -$200 was appropriate. He informed Mr Cropp that he would need to adapt his riding style in the future.
PENALTY
The Committee carefully considered all submissions and reminded Mr Cropp of his obligations under the whip rule.
Accordingly we impose a fine of $150.
