--

This is a protest by Mr Allison, Stipendiary Steward, against the 5TH placing of JOHNNY ROCKET (M Jones) in Race 1 on the grounds that with approximately 2400 metres to run it broke checking ANGELA D, LANGLANDS, FAWN LAKE and DONNY’S VC. Mr Allison asked for disqualification of JOHNNY ROCKET. Judge’s placings were: 2, 16, 6, 11, 8, 13.

--

--

Mr Allison demonstrated on the video that just after the horses settled into their racing pattern JOHNNY ROCKET went into a break and, in moving wider on the track, interfered with the chances of a number of horses and, in particular, ANGELA D, LANGLANDS, FAWN LAKE and DONNY’S VC. He demonstrated that 2 of these horses had locked wheels and that the four horses had lost at least 8 lengths in the incident. LANGLANDS had run on well for 6th, he said.

--

--

Mr Negus did not contest the fact that JOHNNY ROCKET had broken and in galloping had interfered with the chances of ANGELA D, LANGLANDS, FAWN LAKE and DONNY’S VC.

--

--

I am satisfied that JOHNNY ROCKET broke just after the horses settled into their racing pattern and, although taken wider on the track by Mr Jones, interfered with the chances of a number of horses, and in particular, ANGELA D, LANGLANDS, FAWN LAKE and DONNY’S VC. These horses lost at least 8 lengths in the incident and had their chances of finishing in a dividend bearing position severely interfered with.

--

--

I exercise my discretion under rule 869(8)(b) and 1003(2)(a) and disqualify JOHNNY ROCKET from 5th placing. Amended placings are: 2, 16, 6, 11, 13, 3.
