Following the running of race No 10, an information was filed instigating a protest.
--The Informant was Mr J M Muirhead and this was a protest against horse No 13 placed 3rd by the judge.
Following the running of race No 10, an information was filed instigating a protest.
--The Informant was Mr J M Muirhead and this was a protest against horse No 13 placed 3rd by the judge. The Judges placings were 1st No 12, 2nd No 11, 3rd No 13, 4th No 1, 5th No 6, 6th No 3.
--The information alleged that Pacific Idol driven by Mr. R J Brosnan was in it's incorrect barrier position at the start. Present at this hearing were Mr. R J Brosnan and Mr. F D Cooney the driver of Western Alliance. Mr. Muirhead showed the video of the start and this showed both Pacific Idol and Western Alliance to be in the wrong barrier positions on the starting gate.
--Mr. Muirhead asked Mr. Cooney if his chances were affected by him starting from five on the second row, Mr. Cooney stated his chances were not affected as his horse was hanging and going rough in the run up and at the point of dispatch. Mr. Brosnan in stated he could not get in to number five as Mr. Cooney was in his position. Both Mr. Cooney and Mr. Brosnan stated there was no calling with Mr. Cooney thinking that Mr Brosnan may have been on the unruly.
--Mr. Muirhead having viewed the video and heard from both drivers sought leave of the Judicial Committee to withdraw this information.
--Decision And Reasons.
--This Judicial Committee having heard from all parties granted Mr. Muirhead permission to withdraw this information and the Judges placings stand for this race.
