Following race 5 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 530(2)b)) when it was alleged by Stipendary Steward Mr J Oatham, that Ms S Spratt used the whip excessively on PROPOSED..
--Ms Spratt admitted the charge.
--Mr Oatham said that the guidelines for the use if the whip outside of the last 200metres were a maximum of 6 strokes followed by a spell for 6 strides. In this case he showed Ms Spratt using the whip for approximately 15 times without a spell. He said that it was Ms Spratt’s 1st breach of the rule and asked for a fine of $200 - $300.
--In admitting the chargeMs Spratt said that her vigorous riding could have been the difference between the winning and losing the race.
--After due consideration the committee impose a fine of $350.
