Following Race 8 an information was filed pursuant to Rule868(3)(5) when it was alleged that Mr Scott failed to race the horse PACIFIC JEWEL with notified gear (barrier blanket).

Mr Scott admitted the charge. Mr L Noble represented Mr Scott who was not in attendance at the races.

Stipendary Steward Mr Williamson said that Mr Scott had been spoken to on the telephone and he had admitted that he had failed to include a barrier blanket in the gear for PACIFIC JEWEL when the horse left the stable. PACIFIC JEWEL has had problems at the start at previous starts and this time failed to leave the stalls with the rest of the field and did not take any part in the race.

Mr Williamson said that Mr Scott had 3 similar charges in the last 5 years. He did admit that this was his 1st charge as a solo trainer, the previous charges being when he trained in partnerships. Mr Williamson asked for a fine of $300.

Mr Noble accepted that although PACIFIC JEWEL was very quiet while waiting in the stalls there was obviously a problem in getting the horse to focus on racing.

After due consideration the committee impose a fine of $300.
