--Mr Michael Walker, rider of CONGALINE, is charged with Rule 871(1)(d) ? Careless Riding.
--The charge reads as follows:
--"Mr Walker, rider of CONGALINE, moved out when not clear causing a check to AVE MAREE (O Bosson) in the final straight."
--Mr Walker admits the breach of Rule 871(1)(d). Accordingly the only issue is penalty.
--The Committee reviewed the films (side-on and head-on), and heard submissions on penalty, firstly, from Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham. Mr Oatham sought a suspension. He referred to Mr Walker's excellent riding record, his plea of guilty and the fact that AVE MAREE suffered interference.
--Mr Walker frankly acknowledged his error of judgement and provided an explanation.
--Taking into account his plea of guilty, excellent riding record and all submissions the committee imposed a suspension from the conclusion of racing on 2 August 2006 up to and including the 9 August 2006.
