CHARGES:
--Following race 7 an information was filed under rule 638 (1) (d) alleging Mr Parkes permitted his mount to shift inwards near the winning post on the first occasion when not sufficiently clear of Prince Namir which was checked.

FACTS: rule 638 (1) (d) was read and confirmed.
--Mr Goodwin Stipendiary Steward demonstrated on the video films at a point near the winning post with a round to go, Mr Parkes on Nepia near the rear of the field on the outside of Prince Namir (V Johnston) moves inwards when not the required distance clear and checks Miss Johnston, who has to take a hold of her mount when she was entitled to her rightful line of running.

--Mr Oatham stated Mr Parkes record shows only one previous charge on 24th June 2010 confirming a very good record. His admission of the breach, his case is at the lower end of carelessness, and the stewards submit a period of suspension accordingly.
--Mr Parkes asked the committee when considering the suspension for it to commence straight away and indicated that he rides predominantly in the Central region.

--In reaching a decision the committee have taken into account Mr Parkes admission of the breach, a very good record over the past twelve months, the degree of carelessness being at the lower end where only one horse was affected.

PENALTY: The committee imposes a term of suspension of 4 days in the Central region commencing at the close of racing 26/09/2010 to the close of racing 07/10/2010.
