Taranaki TR 19 November 2010 – R 4
ID: JCA10488
Code:
Thoroughbred
Meet Title:
Taranaki RC - 19 November 2010
Meet Chair:
ISmith
Meet Committee Member 1:
cmckay
Race Date:
2010/11/19
Race Number:
R 4
Decision:
The committee confirms the charge proven.
Penalty:
A term of suspension is imposed to begin on the close of racing on Friday 26 November up to and including Thursday 2nd December four (4) days.
Charge:
Careless Riding
Facts:
An Information was filed following race 4 alleging that M Hills has allowed his mount Cherry Express to shift in passing the 200mtr, resulting in a check to Everyday (R Myers) and Swayze (J Riddell).
The rule was read and confirmed.
Submissions for Decision:
Mr Goodwin using the video coverage available identified where M Hills at the 200mtr was riding his mount out to the line on the outside of R Myers with J Riddell on her inside. M Hills then shifts across and puts pressure on R Myers mount who in turn goes in onto J Riddell and some buffeting continues for several strides, both riders having to ease their mounts.
Submissions for Penalty:
Mr. Goodwin presented a very good riding record of M Hills showing two previous charges in the past twelve months, the last one on 28/2/2010 (4 days). M Hills is a busy rider in both the north and south island. But this incident did not look good and two horses were involved and the stewards seek a term of suspension of four days.
Mr Hills considered a four-day penalty to be fair.
When questioned on his future riding engagements Mr Hills sought due to his commitments that a penalty of suspension begins after Friday 26/11/10.
Reasons for Penalty:
In arriving at a decision the committee have taken into account Mr Hills admittance of the breach, his riding commitments, also his good riding record of two charges in the past twelve months. The degree of carelessness was in the low to mid range where the interference affected two horses; the committee deem a term of suspension is warranted.
