Following race 2 an information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr A Ray pursuant to rule 850(1)&(4) when he alleged that Mr T Harris committed a breach of that rule in that he weighed out with a Safety Vest that is not approved by NZTR.
--Mr Harris, who was represented by Mr A Sharrock, admitted the charge.
--Mr C George, in outlining the charge said it was a case of an unapproved vest being worn and therefore it was a clear breach of rule 850
--In admitting the charge Mr Harris said that he had left his good vest at home so he used the other one that he had in his bag.
--PENALTY:
--Mr Ray and Mr George both stressed that they regarded this as a serious charge because of the safety issues involved. A fine in the vicinity of $500 - $700 was requested.
--Mr Harris had nothing to add.
--The committee, in coming to their decision, agree with Mr Ray that this was a serious breach of a rule that was made for the safety of riders. After due consideration we impose a fine of $700.
