At the conclusion of Race 7 Carriers Arms Hotel Riverton Cup Stipendiary Steward Mr M Davidson filed an information A5880 alleging that jockey M H Misbah failed to ride his mount ACQUIT out to the finish of the race, ACQUIT eventually finishing eleventh, with the sixth to tenth placed horses receiving $1000 in stake money.

Stipendiary Steward Mr M Davidson told the Committee that the charge was a little unusual in that the sixth to tenth placed horses in this particular race received stake money.
Stipendiary Steward Mr J McLaughlin showed the Committee several video clips of the alleged incident, highlighting jockey Mr M Misbah's lack of vigour over the concluding stages of the race which allowed YA DREAMIN JONESY ridden by Miss J Morris to gain tenth placing shot of the finishing line.

Mr M Misbah stated that he had made an error of judgement as he had not realised the stakes placings were being paid from sixth to tenth. He realised his horse ACQUIT was well spent and that it would be racing on the second day of the meeting on the following Monday and that he needed to look after it.
