This is an adjourned enquiry arising from the Te Aroha meeting on 23 September 09.  Today’s date, 30 September 09 is the first race meeting attended by Mr Cameron since his breach of Rule 520(4) (c) that day.

--

Mr Coles explained to the Committee that Mr Cameron failed to make the weight for CAPE LE PAUL in race 9 that day.  Mr Cameron pleaded guilty to the charge.

--

Mr Coles said on this occasion at the Te Aroha meeting Mr Cameron had just the one ride so was only letting one lot of connections down by not making the weight.  He said Mr Cameron rang the stewards early in the day when he realised he could not make the weight of 54.5 kgs.

--

Mr Cameron said he took the ride himself thinking he could make the weight.  He also said he rang as soon as he realized he would not make the weight.

--

PENALTY SUBMISSIONS

--

Mr Coles said this was Mr Cameron’s 4th charge since May under this rule but as only one ride was affected submitted a fine of $200 - $400 would be appropriate.

--

PENALTY

--

The Committee considered all submissions and evidence before imposing an appropriate penalty.  Mr Cameron was told that his record under the weight rule was a concern causing inconvenience to connections.  However on this occasion, as Mr Cameron had pleaded guilty, had phoned early in the day and only 1 ride was in question, the Committee imposed a fine of $300.
