Meet Title:
Racing Te Aroha - 22 October 2008
Race Date:
2008/10/22
Race Number:
Race 7
Decision: Following Race 7 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d). Stipendiary Steward Mr M Williamson alleged that Mr Doyle, rider of I’m Lucy, permitted his mount to shift inwards near the 1200 metres when not sufficiently clear of Revoke (B Jones) who was checked and made contact with Scouter (J Collett).
DECISION AND REASON:
----
Following Race 7 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d). Mr Doyle admitted the charge and was represented by Trainer Mr L Noble.
----
Stipendiary steward Mr Oatham demonstrated the video film and showed that soon after the start Mr Doyle who had drawn 7 allowed his mount to move in and into the line of Mr Jones when insufficiently clear of that runner. As a result Mr Jones had to check which caused him to come into contact with Mr J Collett on his inside who consequently hit the running rail.
----
Mr Noble had nothing to add other than to say MrDoyle had conducted himself in a professional manner throughout.
----
PENALTY SUBMISSIONS
----
Mr Williamson said Mr Doyle had been very cooperative with the Stewards throughout and although his mount did race greenly Mr Doyle did have racing room at the time and did not need to move in as he did. Mr Williamson said Mr Doyle had an excellent riding record with only 1 suspension in the last 12 months. He submitted a 4 day suspension would be appropriate.
----
Mr Doyle said he had commitments on Monday 27 October.
----
PENALTY
----
The Committee considered these submissions and before imposing a penalty took the following into account:
----
- --
- Mr Doyle’s guilty plea --
- His excellent record --
- Full cooperation with the Stewards --
- Degree of carelessness which we believe is at the lower end
--
Accordingly we impose a suspension for Mr Doyle to serve starting after racing on 27 October and finishing after racing on1 November (4 days)
