Following Race 4 an information pursuant to rule 866 (1) (c) was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr. A. Coles. He alleged that Miss R. Tunnell being the rider of fourth placed horse DUNIXI failed to ride her mount out to the end of the race
DECISION AND REASON:
--Following Race 4 an information pursuant to rule 866 (1) (c) was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr. A. Coles. He alleged that Miss R. Tunnell being the rider of fourth placed horse DUNIXI failed to ride her mount out to the end of the race, when there was a reasonable chance of it finishing in third place.
--Miss Tunnell admitted the charge.
--Mr. J. Oatham demonstrated the video and showed that in the closing stages of the race Miss Tunnell stopped riding her mount twice, the last time being four strides short of the post.
--The margin at the finish was a short half length.
--As Miss Tunnell has admitted the charge the Committee is required to adjudicate on penalty only.
--Mr Coles in summing up, said that Miss Tunnell had only recently returned to NZ, but as this was a serious offence he asked for a suspension of 3-4 weeks.
--Miss Tunnell had nothing to add other than to say that the video showed it all.
--The Committee, after due consideration, suspend Miss Tunnell from riding beginning after conclusion of racing on 20th October until the conclusion of racing on 17th November 2007 (4 weeks).
