Decision: --

--

DECISION & REASON:

--

Following race 7 an information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham pursuant to Rule 871(1)(d) in that TAMARA KARSAVINA (M McNab) angled out for a run near the 300 metres causing a check to CAPTURE (M Wenn) and also interference to MEDIA GIRL (C Grylls).

--

--

Mr McNab, who was represented by Mr K Shailer, admitted the charge.

--

--

Mr Coles demonstrated the video film and showed at the 300 metre mark, Mr McNab, the rider of TAMARA KARSAVINA, angle his mount out for a run. In doing so he made contact with CAPTURE, ridden by M Wenn, who in turn was forced onto MEDIAL GIRL ridden by C Grylls, who suffered a sharp check as a result.

--

--

Mr McNab was only ? length clear when he made his move. Mr Coles did add that he felt that TAMARA KARSAVINA did over-react and its outward movement was more accentuated. Mr McNab agreed with Mr Coles and added it was his mounts first start.

--

--

PENALTY:

--

Mr Oatham said that it was clear that Mr McNab angled his mount out when only ? length clear of Ms Wenn and said he felt the interference was in the mid range.

--

--

The Committee has considered all submissions and believe a suspension is the appropriate penalty. The penalty would normally be a suspension of 4 days, but after taking into account Mr McNab's admission of guilt and the over-reaction of his mount we have allowed a credit of one day. Consequently Mr McNab is suspended from the conclusion of racing on 2 December until the conclusion of racing on 9 December.
