--Following race 4 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 858(1)(c) when it was alleged that Mr L Macfarlane, rider of SKIDBY, shook hands with the connections of that horse prior to weighing in.
----Mr Macfarlane admitted the breach and in making a statement said it was his biggest highweight win and in his excitement simply forgot his obligations under this rule.
----Mr George said it was well publicised to jockeys they must refrain from any contact until after weighing in, and the Stewards regard any breach seriously. He believed a fine to be appropriate and suggested it should be $200 - $300.
----The Committee considered all submissions and reminded Mr Macfarlane of his obligations under this rule. We believe a fine to be appropriate and accordingly impose a fine to be paid by Mr Macfarlane of $200.
