Following race 8 an information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr J Oatham pursuant to rule 871(1)(d) when he alleged that SHINKO BAY (D Johnson) shifted out when not clear causing a sharp check
Following race 8 an information was lodged by Stipendary Steward Mr J Oatham pursuant to rule 871(1)(d) when he alleged that SHINKO BAY (D Johnson) shifted out when not clear causing a sharp check to ZERELLO (M Walker) and also LAKELAND QUEEN (M du Plesis )near the 200 meters.
--Miss Johnson, who was represented by Mr S McKee admitted the charge.
--Mr Coles showed the offence on the video where Miss Johnson on SHINKO BAY could be seen to move out when not clear of ZERELLO who was forced across with the resultant check to LAKELAND QUEEN.
--As Miss Johnson had admitted the charge the committee is required to adjudicate on penalty only.
--Mr Oatham gave Miss Johnson’s record which showed that this is her 4th charge in 6 months. She was about to commence a 4 day suspension so any further suspension would start on the 6th January. He asked for a suspension of 4 – 6 days.
--Miss Johnson had nothing to add.
--The Committee express concern at Miss Johnson’s record. She is a rider of obvious talent who is required to show better discipline.
--After considering not only her record, but also the offence committed by her we suspend her from riding from January till the finish of racing on 17 January 2008. (5 days).
