Following Race 7 an Information was filed pursuant to rule 638 (2). The Informant, Mr Neal, alleged that Miss S Collett, rider of SIR SLICK, made a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.

Following Race 7 an Information was filed pursuant to rule 638 (2). The Informant, Mr Neal, alleged that Miss S Collett, rider of SIR SLICK, made a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
--Miss Collett admitted the breach.
--Mr Neal demonstrated the video films which clearly showed Miss Collett making a fist pump gesture prior to the winning post.
--Miss Collett, in admitting the charge, had nothing further to add.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS
--Mr Neal submitted this offence by Miss Collett was at the low end of offending under this rule. However in recent times stewards have taken a consistent line with this offence and believed a $200 fine would be appropriate.
--PENALTY
--The Committee carefully considered all the evidence and submissions before imposing an appropriate penalty. While it was clear to the Committee Miss Collett did make a celebratory gesture prior to the post we believe it was relatively minor. Taking into account Miss Collett’s guilty plea and that this was her first charge under this rule we impose a fine of $200.
