--Following race 8, an information was filed pursuant to rule 638 (1) (d). The Informant, Stipendiary Steward Mr A Coles alleged that rider Mr C. Lammas permitted his mount MISS SHARAPOVA to shift in near the 50 metres, dictating ELUSIVE CITY (C. Grylls) in onto THE CLOSER (M.DuPlessis) who was forced into the line of RIVIERA PRINCESS (T. Thornton) who had to check.

--Following race 8, an information was filed pursuant to rule 638 (1) (d). The Informant, Stipendiary Steward Mr A Coles alleged that rider Mr C. Lammas permitted his mount MISS SHARAPOVA to shift in near the 50 metres, dictating ELUSIVE CITY (C. Grylls) in onto THE CLOSER (M.DuPlessis) who was forced into the line of RIVIERA PRINCESS (T. Thornton) who had to check.
--Mr. C. Lammas admitted the breach.
--Mr J Oatham demonstrated the video films which clearly showed MISS SHARAPOVA ridden by Mr Lammas shifting in when under pressure dictating the rightful running line of 3 horses on his inner. He said Mr Lammas did not take the necessary corrective action to avoid the interference which resulted in RIVIERA PRINCESS ridden by Mrs Thornton receiving a sharp check.
--Mr Lammas said MISS SHARAPOVA was laying in prior to the incident, but ducked in quickly in the last 50 metres and while he straightened his mount, it was too late.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS
--Mr. Coles said Mr Lammas had three previous suspensions in the last 12 months. He said Mr Lammas rides in the North Island and submitted a suspension at the bottom end.
--Mr Lammas said he had firm commitments at Tauranga on January 2 2010, and would like the suspension to start after that race day.
--PENALTY
--The committee carefully considered the evidence and submissions presented. We took into account the guilty plea; Mr Lammas’s good riding record and the level of carelessness being at the low end. We grant Mr Lammas request that the suspension starts after racing on January 2 2010.
--Accordingly we impose a suspension from race riding to start after racing on the 2nd of January 2010 and to conclude after racing on the 7th January 2010 (4 days)
