----
Mr Collett, who was represented by Mr D Rolston, admitted the charge.
----
Mr J Oatham demonstrated the video which clearly showed Mr Collett moving outwards as the field completed the last 200 metres of the race. He firstly took the line RULE THE DAY then continued to ride his mount with vigour . He did straighten his mount before again ride it out. The outward movement continued which forced FAIRYTALEOFNEWYORK to be checked and was forced on to SHOTGUN START. Mr Oatham said the outward movement was about 5 horse widths.
----
As Mr Collett had admitted the charge the committee has to adjudicate on penalty only.
----
Mr Williamson gave Mr Collett’s record which showed 2 charges in his short riding career. He said that he considered the offence to be in the middle range and asked for a suspension in the 5-7 day range.
----
Mr Collett asked that any suspension to start after racing finished on 14 February as he had no engagements for the Waeroa meeting on 15 February.
----
After taking into account Mr Collett’s record, his admission of guilt, and the degree of interference the committee suspends Mr Collett from race riding from the conclusion of racing on 14 February till the conclusion of racing on 25 February 2009. (6 days)
