Following the running of Race 6 (Triton Pacific Owens Plate), Information No. A12945 was filed with the Judicial Committee. It was alleged by the Informant that Mr Ormsby used his whip excessively prior to the 100m when riding HE CAN SING.
Mr Ormsby said that he understood the Rule, the Charge and confirmed that he admitted the breach.
Mr Dooley showed the film replays and identified where Mr Ormsby struck his mount with the whip 8 times prior to the 100m (5 is the limit).
Mr Ormsby agreed that it was 8 strikes.

Mr Jones said that this was Mr Ormsby’s second whip breach and recommended that the JCA penalty starting point of a $500 fine would be a suitable penalty.
Mr Ormsby said that he was in a winning position at the 200m and it was a momentum thing that saw him over the limit.
