--

Following Race 3 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 876(1) when it was alleged that EASE HOURS, placed 1st by the judge, interfered with the chances of PRINCE AMIGO placed 2nd by the judge.

--

Present were Informant Mr J Parkes and Mr R Hannam representing the connections of PRINCE AMIGO, Ms L Cropp the rider of EASE HOURS, and Mr P Nelson representing the connections of EASE HOURS.

--

Stipendiary Steward, Mr N Goodwin, gave the margin of a long neck between 1st and 2nd. He also reserved the right to charge jockey L Cropp

--

Mr Parkes, demonstrating the relevant videos, showed EASE HOURS moving out as it came down the straight. He claimed that he had to stop riding PRINCE AMIGO before rebalancing his mount and then being forced to run round EASE HOURS to finish strongly and to be only beaten by a long neck

--

Mr Hannam said that Mr Parkes had to put his stick away and although Miss Cropp was clear of him her mount lugged out down the straight. Mr Hannam admitted that Mr Parkes did not have to check off the heels of EASE HOURS.

--

Miss Cropp said that she was always clear of Mr Parkes and was always holding him in the run to the finish.

--

Mr Nelson said the film showed that during the outward movement of Miss Cropp she was always two lengths clear.

--

Mr Goodwin asked Mr Parkes how much ground he lost and the answer was about one length. After again viewing the video Mr Goodwin asked Mr Parkes if he had called to which he answered "no".

--

DECISION: Having viewed the videos again the committee see that that during its movement outwards EASE HOURS was always sufficiently clear of PRINCE AMIGO. There was a gap created on the inside of EASE HOUR which Mr Parkes chose not to take. There was no interference. The protest is dismissed
