----------
--

Following race one an information was filed pursuant to rule 871(1)(d) when it was alleged by the informant, Stipendiary Steward Mr AR Coles, that Miss LK Cropp, rider of BEGGARS BANQUET, committed a breach of that rule when she shifted inwards on her mount when not the required distance clear of DEAD COMMON (M Coleman) forcing that runner inwards onto LOTS OF FUN (J Collett) who suffered severe interference.

--

--

Miss Cropp did not admit the offence.

--

--

Mr Coles firstly called Mr JC Collett to give his account of the incident. He said that he was in a nice position on the rails towards the end of the back straight when he heard Mr Coleman, who was on his outside, calling for room. At this stage Mr Coleman was a neck to half a neck ahead. Mr Collett then started to receive pressure from Mr Coleman and this increased until the stage where his mount was against the rail and was severely checked out.

--

--

Mr Coleman, in his evidence stated that coming into the turn he received pressure from Miss Cropp and in spite of his yelling to her this pressure continued until it had forced LOTS OF FUN out of its position.

--

--

Mr Colgan said that he was racing four wide about a length ahead of Miss Cropp who was on his inside. He heard her call so made sure that she had room on the inside to come through.

--

--

Miss Cropp had no questions to ask of these riders.

--

--

Mr Coles then asked Mr Robinson, who viewed the incident head-on, to demonstrate the video. Mr Robinson said that his attention was taken by yelling he heard by Miss Cropp. He felt that there was enough room for Miss Cropp to come through on the inside of Mr Colgan, but instead she chose to take a different course.

--

--

In demonstrating the video the movements confirmed the evidence of the previous witnesses which showed room between WAIKNOTME ridden by Miss L Woods and WHERO, Mr Colgan's mount. It also showed the continued pressure inwards on DEAD COMMON with the consequential pressure on to LOTS OF FUN.

--

--

Miss Cropp felt that the head-on video did not show the true situation and that the side-on film, which showed Mr Colgan on her outside and just a length ahead, and she considered that this showed that he dictated her line.

--

--

In summing up Mr Coles said he felt that the pressure was applied by Miss Cropp for about 30 metres and could have had serious consequences for the runners inside of her.

--

--

DECISION:

--

--

After reviewing the films and all the evidence the committee prefer the evidence of Mr Coles and the affected riders and consequently find Miss Cropp guilty as charged.
