Following race 8 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 858(1)(b) by the Informant Mr A Coles. He alleged that Mr L Callaway changed gear after weighing out.

--Mr Callaway admitted the breach.
--Mr Coles said that Mr Callaway weighed out with a vest, and after weighing out changed vests without re-weighing.
--Mr Callaway said he had borrowed a vest but felt it was too heavy so had changed it not thinking it would make any difference. He admitted he was wrong in what he did.
--Penalty Submissions:
--Mr Coles said it was Mr Callaway’s first breach of this rule and submitted a fine of $300 would be appropriate.
--Mr Callaway said a fine of this amount would take most of his riding fees for the day and asked the committee to consider this, and that this was his first breach of this rule.
--Penalty:
--The committee considered all submissions and took into account Mr Callaway’s guilty plea, and that it was his first charge under this rule. However, it was explained to Mr Callaway it could be construed as cheating and reminded him of his obligations. However, in this case we do not believe there was any intent by Mr Callaway to deceive the Stewards by his actions. Accordingly, a fine of $275 was imposed.
