Otaki-Maori RC 10 April 2012 – R 3
ID: JCA10515
Code:
Thoroughbred
Meet Title:
Otaki-Maori RC - 10 April 2012
Meet Chair:
NMoffatt
Meet Committee Member 1:
NMcCutcheon
Race Date:
2012/04/10
Race Number:
R 3
Decision:
As Ms Lloyd admitted the breach the charge was found proved.
Penalty:
Ms Lloyd is suspended from the close of racing today up to and including racing on Thursday April 19th. The committee included South Island and Central Districts meetings only.
Charge:
Following the running of Race 3, an Information was lodged by Mr R Neal alleging a breach of Rule 638(1) (d) in that near the 1100m E Lloyd permitted her mount BABY GEE to shift in when not clear causing checks to STORMY LASS and LOCKED N’ LOADED.
Facts:
The Stewards used the head-on and side-on films to show Ms Lloyd, who was racing in the middle of the track, angle her mount inwards when barely a length clear of Ms K Myers (STORMY LASS). Ms Myers consequently moved into the line of Mr Riddell who had to steady his mount in behind these horses.
Ms Lloyd told the committee she was aware she had come across into the line of Ms Myers but had not been aware at the time of Mr Riddell until she heard him call out.
Submissions for Penalty:
Mr Neal said Ms Lloyd had been away from racing for some time but had been back riding now for 8-9 months. Within that time she had a clear record and was trying to re-establish herself within the riding ranks. The Stewards placed the carelessness as at the lower end but submitted a period of suspension was appropriate.
Ms Lloyd had nothing further to add in relation to submissions on penalty but did say she had no riding commitments within the next 7 days.
The Stewards informed the committee Ms Lloyd had recently ridden in Otago.
Reasons for Penalty:
The committee took into account all of the submissions. Ms Lloyd made a simple error of judgement when attempting to move inwards from a position in the middle of the track with the result that two runners had to be steadied. We were satisfied that the carelessness was at the low end of the scale. In addition we gave credit for Ms Lloyd’s admission of the breach and her excellent riding record. It was our opinion that under these circumstances a three day suspension was a suitable penalty.
