Mr Davidson, stipendiary steward, alleged a breach of rule 508(2) and (5) in that Mr Harris failed to declare a rider for RISING DOLLAR in race 3 by the required time. Mr Harris admitted the breach and indicated he did not wish to be present at the hearing.

Mr Davidson stated that the trainer had said by way of explanation that with the Riccarton meeting being on the same day that declarations closed, he had simply forgotten to ring. A rider was finally nominated, some 3 hours late.

Mr Harris has not been in breach of this Rule previously this season. We are aware the “standard fine” is $50. We impose a fine of $50.
