Mr Davidson stated Mr Lowry contacted Stewards the morning of the meeting and said he could not make the weight for RELIABLE BELLE. He said RELIABLE BELLE was carded at 56.5 kg with 1/2kg extra allowance. Mr Lowry was subsequently replaced by another jockey.
Mr Lowry said he’d been struggling with his weight for some time and couldn’t get his weight right for today. He said he was evaluating certain rides and was almost there with his goal weight.

Mr Davidson stated that this rule breach was usually dealt with by way of a MIN (Minor Infringement Notice), but this was Mr Lowry’s third breach of the Rule in a short time. He was previously fined $100 at Cromwell and $200 at Ashburton. He sought a fine of $300.
Mr Lowry accepted a fine was inevitable.
