Decision: --

Stipendiary Steward Mr S Ching alleged that LIVING DOLL or its rider placed first by the judge interfered with the chances of MAGNANIMOUS placed third by the judge. The interference was said to occur 100 metres from the finish.

--

Decision & Reasons:

--

Stipendiary Steward Mr S Ching alleged that LIVING DOLL or its rider placed first by the judge interfered with the chances of MAGNANIMOUS placed third by the judge. The interference was said to occur 100 metres from the finish.

--

Video evidence was shown. It showed that nearing the finish LIVING DOLL (T Moseley) moved out bumping MAGNANIMOUS (L Robinson). Mr Robinson claimed it was a severe enough bump to cause him to stop riding and stopped his momentum. He claimed it cost him half a length and as he finished a neck from 2nd it cost him second place.

--

Mr Moseley said he had come from a long way back and had to change ground. He said his horse moved out more strongly than he intended but the interference was slight and only four to five strides from the post. He felt Mr Robinson hardly stopped riding, perhaps for a stride.

--

Mr Harris (Trainer of MAGNANIMOUS) said contact had been admitted and his momentum interfered with. He felt his horse would have finished second.

--

Mr S Anderton (Co-Trainer of LIVING DOLL) felt Mr Robinson did not stop riding.

--

Decision:

--

The Committee found interference did occur and it was sufficient to cause Mr Robinson to miss a stride or so in his riding. The margins were only half a neck and a neck.

--

The Committee also found that there may not have been sufficient distance left to enable Mr Robinson to gain second place even though he was finishing on and said that as it is inconclusive they have decided to leave the judge's placings unaltered.
