Mr Skerrett admitted a breach of rule 871(1)(d), careless riding, in that he allowed his mount VOODOO DOLL to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear causing interference to ASHBURY ISOBAR and Mr BLUE PRINT near the 1000 metres.
----Mr Davidson demonstrated on the videos that Mr Skerrett had drawn the outside stall and shortly after the start had moved across causing interference to ASHBURY ISOBAR and Mr BLUE PRINT in that each jockey had to take hold of their mounts. The latter horse moved suddenly sideways in apparent fright at the sideways movement from the first mentioned horse. We are satisfied that Mr Skerrett, as he has admitted, was not sufficiently clear when he came across.
----Mr Skerrett has been riding in New Zealand since March and he calculates he has had some 60 rides in this time. He has not committed a previous breach of this rule although he has received a warning.
----Mr Ching assessed the breach as being mid-range and we agree. Rider safety was compromised. Balancing the degree of severity of the breach against Mr Skerrett's good record and willing admission of the breach, we impose a 3 day suspension from the end of racing today up to and including the 17th of September.
