Stipendiary Steward Mr N G McIntyre alleged that "C T Woodward, driver of SHIKAKA, drove carelessly when attempting to move JACK HINTON, driven by P Cowan, out in the run home, resulting in the gelding breaking".
--Mr Woodward admitted the charge.
--Video footage both front on and side on confirmed the allegation. Under Rule 1111 (I) (d) I find the charge proven.

PENALTY :
--Submissions as to penalty were taken. Mr McIntyre said Mr Woodward is a high calibre driver who has had 2,665 race drives, including 87 this year. He has no charges under the rule this year but as a result of his actions a runner was put out of the race which makes it a high to medium range incident. He asked for a fine of $300 to $400. Mr Woodward said he would prefer a suspension. Mr McIntyre indicated that at least 4 days would be appropriate. Mr Woodward, when asked, did not offer any alternative.
--Taking into account Mr Woodward's good record and ready admission, but also the severity of the interference I suspend Mr Woodward's licence from midnight tonight 15 January 2008 up to and including the Winton HRC meeting on 22 January 2008 - a total of four race days.
