Following the running of Race 2, the Glenn Arnold Memorial Pace, an information was laid by Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr N. R. Escott against Mr W. E. Higgs, licensed trainer of RED HOT HAT (5), alleging a breach of Rules 865(1) and (2). It was alleged that Mr Higgs failed to present RED HOT HAT with a hood, in which it had raced at its previous start at Timaru on 28 September 2008.

Mr Higgs had indicated on the Information that he admitted this breach of the rules and that he did not wish to be present at this hearing.

Mr Escott recommended a fine of $200-00 for this breach. We were satisfied that this was an appropriate fine, and Mr Higgs was fined this amount.
