----Mr House was present at the hearing of the information and did not admit the breach.
----Mrs Williams showed a video replay which clearly showed Mr House holding onto one rein and waving the other, which had come adrift, in the air to attract the attention of the Clerk of the Course.
----Mr House explained that the filly had pulled very hard and had pulled the tongue of the rein right through the buckle. It had happened about 400 metres after the start. Mr House submitted that there was no fault on his, or anybody else's, part and submitted he had taken all possible care. Mrs Williams referred to the "strict liability Rule".
----The Committee explained the "strict liability Rule" to Mr House. Notwithstanding Mr House's explanation for the breach, it was clear that the rein had come adrift, as alleged in the information. The charge was found proved.
----Mrs Williams recommended a fine of $200. No other runner had been affected but TRINITY COLLEGE had lost all chance in the race, she submitted. Mr House said that he was happy to pay a fine of $100.
----The Committee considered the submissions of both parties and, in particular, the explanation given by Mr House. Mr House was fined the sum of $150.
----The Committee adds that Mr House's drive on TRINITY COLLEGE showed commendable horsemanship skills in avoiding a possible serious incident.
