DECISION AND REASONS:
--Following the running of Race 1, the World Bowls Championships Welcome Mobile Pace, an information was laid by Stipendiary Steward Mr Ydgren against Mr C. E. Newfield, driver of "Vienna Rose" (12), alleging a breach of Rule 869(3)(b). The charge was that Mr Newfield drove carelessly shortly after the start of the race when he allowed his horse to strike the sulky wheel of a horse in front of him, resulting in his horse breaking.
--Mr Newfield had indicated on the information that he admitted this breach of the Rules and that he did not wish to attend the hearing.
--Penalty:
--In relation to penalty Mr Ydgren advised that Mr Newfield had a clear record and a fine of $200-00 was recommended. Taking into account Mr Newfield’s clear record and his guilty plea I was satisfied that the fine recommended was appropriate and Mr Newfield was fined the sum of $200-00.
