Following the running of Race 7, the “Pegasus Spur” Standing At Woodlands Handicap Trot, an information was laid by Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr N. R. Escott against Mr P. J. Davis, the driver of “Buster Keaton” (6), alleging that he had committed a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he had used his whip excessively in the run home.
Following the running of Race 7, the “Pegasus Spur” Standing At Woodlands Handicap Trot, an information was laid by Chief Stipendiary Steward Mr N. R. Escott against Mr P. J. Davis, the driver of “Buster Keaton” (6), alleging that he had committed a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he had used his whip excessively in the run home.

Mr Davis did not attend the hearing and he had indicated on the Information that he admitted this breach of the Rules. Video coverage of the race was used to show that Mr Davis had used his whip on about 17 occasions in the final 130 metres of the race.

In relation to penalty Mr Escott advised that Mr Davis had no relevant previous convictions, and recommended a fine of $200-00. I was satisfied that a fine of $200-00 was appropriate in this case and Mr Davis was fined this amount.
