Following the running of race eight on the programme, an Information was lodged against Mr K James, the trainer of Smart Hanover, alleging a breach of Rule 858(a) & (b), in that he presented this horse late in the parade area
Following the running of race eight on the programme, an Information was lodged against Mr K James, the trainer of Smart Hanover, alleging a breach of Rule 858(a) & (b), in that he presented this horse late in the parade area and just 5 minutes before start time.
----Mr James admitted the breach.
----Explaining the circumstances, stipendiary steward Mr Taumanu said that Mr James was exceptionally late into the parade area, and close to start time, and was spoken to. He had no excuse to offer. As it was his first breach of this nature, Mr Taumanu recommended a fine of $50.00.
----Other than admitting he had no excuse, Mr James had no submissions to make.
----Penalty:
----In this case, Mr James admitted a breach of Rule 858(a) & (b) in that he presented Smart Hanover late in the parade area and just prior to the start. He openly admitted the breach and offered no excuses.
----In the circumstances, and following submissions from the stipendiary steward in respect to penalty, I am satisfied a fine of $50.00 is appropriate, and so order.
